How to restrict directory access with an .htacess file

Restricting directory access is probably the most frequently used .htaccess techniques. If there are some areas that you don’t want visitors to look at such as back up folders. You can use any FTP client software such as the free Filezilla to put up the file.

To deny all requests for the restricted directory or folder, prepare a .htaccess text file in that directory and put the following directive in it:

deny from all
